Welcome to the FisHab webpage
The goal of this collaborative research project undertaken by the GRIL and LakePulse Network is to better characterize current and future freshwater fish habitat across Canada, by considering cumulative impacts of multiple stressors and climate change.

Research Priorities |
Large-scale synthesis of data |
This project will address research priorities related to the development of new ecosystem indicators to improve reporting tools and to better describe multiple stressors affecting freshwater fish habitats. We will use these new ecosystem indicators in conjunction with climate change scenarios to predict the future distributions of fish habitat in Canada.
|
To achieve these goals, the project will assemble for the first time data from several sources (government, peri and non-governmental organizations and academic institutions), ranging from biogeochemical stocks and fluxes (e.g. nutrients, contaminants, oxygen and carbon molecules), morphometric and physical characteristics, to biological estimates across all trophic levels, from bacteria through invertebrates and to fish communities. We will then use cutting edge statistical and computer tools to identify environmental and/or biotic factors that better predict the biodiversity and composition of freshwater fish fauna in Quebec and across Canada.
